INDIA KASHMIR CLASHES
A Kashmiri protester throws back a tear smoke canister towards Indian policemen on the second consecutive day of clashes between Kashmiri muslim protesters and Indian police in downtown Srinagar, 21 January 2008. Indian police on Monday fired in air, used hundreds of tear gas shells and batons to disperse hundreds of angry protesters after sectarian clashes that broke out on Saturday evening between Shiite and Sunni groups. Atleast eight police personnel and scores of protesters were injured during these clashes.
