Kashmiri activists from the moderate separatist umbrella organisation the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) scuffle with Indian policemen during a protest rally, in Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian-held Kashmir, Tuesday, 23 Aug, 2005. Dozens of activists were demanding release of thousands of Kashmiri prisoners languishing in Indian prisons. More than 44,000 people have been killed in Indian-held Kashmir as part of a separatist revolt that began in 1989. Separatists say the toll is at least twice as high.
