A Kashmiri bride and groom are accompanied by their relatives and friends as they cross a stream on their way to the groom's home at batkoot village about 80 kms south of Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian-held Kashmir, Sunday, 3rd October, 2004. A Kashmiri wedding is an extravagant affair over two days starting from Manzi Raaat to the 'Yanivoal' or wedding day, during which hundreds of guests are served a traditional feast called 'Wazwan. As the harvest is almost over, the marriage season begins in Kashmir's villages marked with elaborate feasts for guests and songs and dance in which girls in colorful attires participate.
